French Island, getting there…
Access to French Island is by ferry from Stony Point. The Stony Point ferry wharf is about 80 km from Melbourne by road. Stony Point location is shown on Google maps or melway map 195 f5 the crossing takes about 15 minutes. You can travel to Stony Point by car or train. Trains to Stony Point railway station link with the connecting Frankston line. It is also possible to catch a passenger ferry to French Island from Cowes on Phillip Island.

The French Island barge company operates a vehicle ferry from Corinella on a daily basis; it accommodates two standard size cars per trip. Foot passengers can also take the barge meaning you can park your car on the other side at Corinella and just walk on the barge and in 15 minutes you will arrive at French Island where we will be awaiting your arrival.
A minimum 24 hours’ notice is required for bookings this service runs by appointment only. However, it is advisable to book as far in advance as possible, as the barge schedule and availability is limited by times and tides. We strongly advise you to check current timetables with the operator (French Island barge) before travelling. Barge operates only around high tide. Always book in advance.
